  1. Several states have funded access to an online training for High School and Middle School educators and staff called Step In, Speak Up! that is about creating a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQ students. Developed with LGBTQ and youth suicide prevention experts at The Trevor Project, GLSEN and other groups, the training gives educators the opportunity to practice (in private) how to curtail harassment in the classroom and reach out one-on-one with respect and sensitivity to students. Anyone in those states – Maryland, Illinois, Iowa, Hawaii, Delaware – who want to learn more or promote this training in their community should contact the developer, Kognito at info@kognito.com.
